About Us

Indian Resin Manufacturers Association (IRMA) is the country’s only all India, non-profit organization exclusively representing the synthetic resins and polymer manufacturing sector across India. Incorporated under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956, IRMA has been the unified voice of the resin industry—protecting, promoting, and propelling its growth since its inception.

The movement to build a dedicated platform for India’s resin fraternity began in the mid 1980s, driven by a group of committed visionaries who recognized the importance of collective strength in shaping the future of the industry. Over the decades, IRMA owes its evolution to the exemplary leadership of its past Chairmen and stalwarts including Mr. Amar Vakil, Mr. Vinay Joshi, Mr. D.M. Sathaye, Mr. J.K. Vakharia, Mr. Nimesh Patel, Dr. K.K. Saxena, Mr. D.G. Parikh, Mr. Ashok Mehta, Mr. Vicky Kapur, Mr. Ballal Chandrachud, Mr. Ashok Goklani, Dr. Prashant Samant, Mr. Bhupendra G. Sakaria, and Mr. Siddharth Shah, whose dedication laid the foundation for the IRMA you see today.

IRMA brings together Manufacturers of synthetic resins, suppliers, traders, importers, packaging partners, and allied industry participants. With a steadily expanding membership base, IRMA represents the broad interests of India’s resin & polymer ecosystem, supporting businesses large and small by building cooperation, enabling policy advocacy, upholding industry standards, and fostering innovation at every level.

Anchored in its mission, IRMA works tirelessly to:

IRMA stands today as a trusted, mission-driven institution—strengthening the resin industry, enabling collaboration, and powering progress for all its members.

Main Objectives

The following are the main objectives of the Association:-

To promote and protect the character and status of manufacturers and dealers of synthetic Resins, polymers and allied products, to guide in fixing and maintenance of standards of quality and to promote honourable practices and prevent and suppress malpractices in such manufacturers and to promote co-operation between all persons engaged in India, as manufacturers of or dealers in synthetic Resins and polymers.

To deal with all questions relating to the rights, privileges and duties of manufacturers of Resins, polymers and allied products and to establish co-operation among the members in resolving various problems of synthetic Resins / polymer industry.

To conduct research in pure and applied field relevant to Synthetic Resin / Polymer industry and to lay down suitable standards, quality, specifications for Resins / Polymers produced and marketed by the members, as well as raw material used in their manufacture where necessary either directly or in consultation with Government or public bodies and to start laboratories and other technical research initiatives for the said purpose.

To improve and elevate the technical and general knowledge of persons engaged in manufacture of Synthetic Resins, Polymers and allied industries and to disseminate among its members information on matters affecting such manufacturers and to print, publish and circulate papers, books, journals, leaflets and circulars and to distribute prizes and promote trophies for outstanding work and creativity.

To acquire, assist or arrange for claiming patent rights, trademarks, designs and other intellectual property rights.

To promote exports, organise market studies abroad, send trade delegations to foreign countries, conduct publicity to highlight advantages of trade with India in Synthetic Resins, Polymers and allied products and disseminate export promotion information among members.

To promote or oppose legislative or other measures affecting Resins, Polymers and allied industries initiated by Central or State Governments or other bodies inside or outside India.

To act as arbitrator or appoint arbitrators for settlement of disputes relating to Synthetic Resins, Polymers and allied products and to adjudicate controversies between members and non-members and act as umpire or referee when required.

To secure favourable tariffs, customs, excise duties, rebates, taxes, cesses, tolls, octroi and other levies from Government, Railways, Ships, Air and Motor Transport and to ensure equitable rules for levying and collecting such duties.

To frame codes of practice in order to simplify and facilitate business transactions.

To organise exhibitions, trade fairs, seminars and participate in such events in India and abroad to promote the Synthetic Resin and Polymer industry and to showcase Indian resin and polymer products through multimedia and audio visual programmes.

IRMA has been growing by helping the Resins industry in many ways such as representing members before Government authorities and conducting seminars, technical workshops and industry development programs.

Constitution

INDIAN RESINS MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION known as IRMA traces its origin to the year 1996, when a small group of Resin manufacturers joined together to promote the resin industry.

IRMA's membership has increased which you can see in members area.

IRMA represents the resin industry. IRMA's , membership consists of Ordinary Members (manufacturers of resins) and Associate Members (connected with resin industry as suppliers of raw materials, packaging material and importers, traders/marketers etc).

The membership is open to anyone connected with resin industry.

Activities

To have better focus on the goal and achieve best results the following Committees have been formed and the members of the Committees have been mentioned here:-

The Committee will function under the overall incharge of Chairman, Mr. Vicky Kapur. The Committee heads are authorized to select their own committee members either from Management Committee or from IRMA members.

IRMA has conducted various Workshops till date, the recent ones being "Know your major raw materials" and "Resin Process Technology". There are also books published on these subjects & the book on "Resin Process Technology" are available at (IRMA office).
